1. What is MCP, and why does it matter for AI creators
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard Anthropic shipped in 2024 that lets AI assistants like Claude safely read your data and perform real actions on external systems. Instead of asking Claude "write me a Python script to upload to KiVio", you say "upload this video to KiVio" and Claude does it through a strongly-typed tool contract.
For an AI video creator, this collapses the full publishing pipeline into one prompt:
| Old workflow (any ad-driven platform) | KiVio MCP workflow |
|---|---|
|
1. Prompt your video model in one browser tab. 2. Download the render. 3. Open YouTube Studio in another tab. 4. Fill the upload form, pick thumbnail, write description. 5. Wait for processing + "monetization review". 6. Hope the algorithm shows it to someone. 7. Get paid pennies 60 days later if ads ran at all. |
1. Prompt your video model. 2. In the same Claude Code session, say "upload this as episode 3 of Rocket Baker". 3. Claude calls kivio.upload_video, the moderation pipeline runs, the video goes live within minutes.4. Parents unlock the episode for coins. 5. 70% of every coin lands in your pending-escrow bucket. 6. 14 days later it moves to Available, you request a Stripe payout. |
No ad lottery, no "monetization review", no algorithmic roulette. Just: make the video, upload the video, get paid when someone watches.
2. The AI-creator workflow in Claude Code
Here's a realistic session. The developer has a Claude Code terminal open; they're prompting their AI video model (Sora, Runway, Pika, Veo, whatever) in parallel.
Everything above happens inside Claude Code's chat. No browser tabs, no copy-paste.
3. Install in 5 minutes
- Create a KiVio creator account at kidsaivideo.com/creator (free; email + password). Verify your email.
- Install the MCP server:
npm install -g @kiviocreatorsmcp/mcp-creator - On the Studio dashboard, scroll to Link external tools. Click Generate link code. A 10-minute code appears (e.g.
MCP-ABC-234-DEF). - In your terminal:
Output:kivio-mcp link MCP-ABC-234-DEFLinked as [your name]. Token saved to ~/.kivio/token.json. - Add to
~/.claude/mcp.json:{ "mcpServers": { "kivio": { "command": "kivio-mcp" } } } - Restart Claude Code. In any session, try: "What's on my KiVio?" — Claude will call
kivio.whoamiand show your profile.
4. The 15 tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
kivio.link_account | Pair this install with a creator account via a one-time code. |
kivio.whoami | Linked profile + wallet. |
kivio.list_series | Your series. |
kivio.list_videos | Your uploads (filter by series or state). |

kivio.create_series | New series with planned-episode count + bucket flags. |
kivio.upload_video | Presign → PUT to S3 → register, in one call. |

kivio.request_video_deletion | Submit a live video for admin removal. |
5. How much you earn
Every coin a parent spends on your content splits 70/30:
| Parent action | Coins | USD paid | Your 70% share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlock 1 free-tier episode | 0 | $0.00 | $0.00 (discovery hook) |
| Unlock 1 mid-tier episode | 2 | $0.02 | $0.014 |
| Unlock 1 final-tier episode | 3 | $0.03 | $0.021 |
| Tip you via your profile | Variable | Variable | 70% of tip |
| Commission a custom cartoon | You set the price | Variable | 70% of accepted offer, released on their confirmation (no 14-day wait) |
A series with modest traction — 500 families binging a 10-episode arc — pays:
Commissions compound: parents who love your series pay you directly for custom content. A single birthday-cartoon commission at 500 coins pays you $3.50 — net the same as 350 episode unlocks.
6. KiVio vs YouTube vs stock-video platforms
| Aspect | KiVio MCP | YouTube Shorts | TikTok | Stock video (Pond5, Shutterstock) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Payment model | Direct per-coin (70% to you) | Ad revenue share after thresholds | Creator Fund pennies | License per download (varies) |
| Payout latency | 14 days (unlocks) / instant (commissions) | 30-60 days + ad-review gates | 30-60 days | 60-90 days |
| Minimum follower / view count | None | 1k subs + 10M Shorts views in 90d | 10k followers + 100k views | None |
| Workflow | Prompt → upload via MCP → earn | Prompt → Studio form → upload → review → metadata → wait | Prompt → upload → wait for the algorithm | Prompt → format tagging → license-metadata → upload → review |
| AI-generated content allowed | Required (we moderate for AI-origin) | Flagged in Shorts, deranked | Flagged, deranked | Allowed with heavy metadata |
| Commissions (custom work) | Yes — in-platform, escrow-protected | No | No | No |
| Audience | Parents of 3-10 year olds, direct-pay | General, ad-sold | General, ad-sold | Agencies / small businesses |
If you make AI-generated kid-safe cartoons, KiVio is the first platform where the economics actually align with the work: you're paid when a kid watches, not when an ad targets their parent.
7. Advanced workflows
Series pipeline from a project folder
Tell Claude: "upload every mp4 in ~/renders/rocket-baker/ as episodes of my Rocket Baker series, in filename order, titles from the filenames". Claude iterates, calls kivio.upload_video per file, reports back the videoIds. One prompt, 10 uploads.
Commission auto-reply
Tell Claude: "list my PROPOSED commissions and draft a reply for each one — ask what age the kid is and what their favorite thing is, before I accept". Claude reads the brief via kivio.get_commission, drafts the message, you review, Claude sends via kivio.reply_in_thread.
Commission bucket routing
Set up two series up front: one marked PUBLIC_COMMISSION, one PRIVATE_COMMISSION. For every commission you accept, tell Claude which bucket based on the parent's intent — public custom content stays in the catalog, family-only private deliveries vanish from every public read.
Earnings reports
Weekly: "show me this week's earnings grouped by series". Claude pulls kivio.get_earnings, formats the breakdown, highlights your best-performing series. Export to CSV with a one-line follow-up.
8. Security + token model
- Link code: 10-minute TTL, single-shot (Redis GET+DEL on consume). A leaked code is useless 10 minutes after mint.
- Session token: 90-day JWT bound to a server-side session row. You can revoke anytime by signing into web Studio and clicking Revoke this device.
- Token at rest:
~/.kivio/token.json, mode 0600 (owner read-write only). - Contact-info scrubber: every DM reply (regardless of surface — web / MCP / future Telegram) runs through a server-side filter that strips email, phone, URLs, social handles, and messenger app names before storage. Parents and creators can't exchange off-platform contact details.
- Server-authoritative paywall: the MCP tools never see signed CloudFront URLs for content the creator didn't make. You can't bypass the paywall from here.
