Run your creator business from ChatGPT: the KiVio Plugin
ChatGPT's new Plugins & Skills system (the Custom GPT successor, cutover October 2026) connects to hosted MCP servers directly. We ship one at api.kidsaivideo.com/mcp — point your plugin at it, authenticate with a 90-day bearer, and manage your KiVio creator business by chatting with ChatGPT.

The full tool catalog (15 tools)
The hosted MCP covers the full creator loop: build a show, publish episodes from AI-video URLs, take commissions, reply to commissioning parents, check your money, and open support tickets. Everything runs through the same KiVio backend as the web Studio and the local MCP for Claude Code.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
kivio.whoami | Your creator profile + wallet state (available coins, pending escrow, lifetime earnings). |
kivio.create_series | Create a new series. title, totalEpisodesPlanned (hard cap), optional description, releaseDate, isExclusive, commissionBucket. Last two are locked at creation. |
kivio.list_series | Every series you own, with episodes-planned and episodes-published counts. |
kivio.upload_video ✨ | Import a video into your library — paste a URL (Sora render, Runway export, signed share link) or attach a video file directly in the ChatGPT message (the tool declares _meta.openai/fileParams, so ChatGPT shows a native attach button). Pass sourceUrl, title, optional seriesId + episodeNumber. Our server fetches, validates (500 MB cap, video/* types), and runs the full moderation pipeline before publish. |
kivio.list_videos | All your uploads, filterable by series and pipeline state. |
kivio.get_video ✨ | Everything about one video: pipeline state (INTAKE → QUALITY_CHECK → MODERATION → SAFE_LIVE), moderation score, rejection reason, duration, dimensions, view count, AI-origin + audio-mod verdicts. The way to answer "is my episode live yet?" or "why was it rejected?" |
kivio.list_commissions | Commissions addressed to you; filter by status. |
kivio.get_commission | One commission's full state + the last 20 messages in its chat thread. |
kivio.accept_commission | Accept a PROPOSED commission — debits the parent, starts the 14-day deliver window. |
kivio.counter_commission | Counter the price on a PROPOSED commission. |
kivio.reject_commission | Reject a PROPOSED commission (terminal). |
kivio.deliver_commission | Attach one of your SAFE_LIVE videos as the delivery for an ACCEPTED commission. |
kivio.reply_in_thread | Send a DM reply in a chat thread. Our server-side contact-info scrubber runs on every message before storage. |
kivio.request_video_deletion | Submit a SAFE_LIVE video for admin review + removal with a short reason. |
kivio.submit_support_ticket ✨ | Open a ticket to KiVio operators. Attach a videoId to flag a specific upload. Lands in the same inbox the website's support form uses. |
kivio.get_certificate ✨ | Issue a signed Certificate of Digital Platform Origin for a SAFE_LIVE video. Returns the HMAC-signed envelope plus printable + verifier URLs. The payload carries the creator's display name, their verified email, the publish timestamp, and the SHA-256 of the original upload — exactly what a DMCA agent on another platform needs as prior-art evidence. |
✨ = new in the current release.
Hosted MCP vs local stdio — what's actually different
Both surfaces hit the same backend and expose 15 tools each. The only real difference is where the bytes come from:
| KiVio Plugin (ChatGPT, hosted MCP) | KiVio MCP (Claude Code, local stdio) | |
|---|---|---|
| Publish a video | kivio.upload_video — from a URL (Sora, Runway, S3 share link, anything) | kivio.upload_video — from a file path on your disk |
| Replace an existing video's bytes | Via web Studio (ask us if you want this in the plugin) | kivio.replace_video from a local file |
| Everything else (series, commissions, chat, earnings, tickets) | Yes | Yes |
Pick whichever matches where you work. If you render clips in ChatGPT (Sora) or any browser-based generator, the hosted plugin is the shorter path — ChatGPT hands our server the file URL and we take it from there.
Setup in 5 minutes
- Sign up for a KiVio creator account at kidsaivideo.com/creator (free). Verify your email.
- On the Studio dashboard, open the Link external tools panel. Click the ChatGPT Plugin tab.
- Click Generate ChatGPT bearer token. Copy the token (shown once — if you lose it, generate a new one).
- Open ChatGPT. Click + Create → Create a plugin. Name it "KiVio Creator".
- In the plugin's Tools / Connected server section:
- MCP server URL:
https://api.kidsaivideo.com/mcp - Authentication: Bearer token → paste the token from step 3.
- MCP server URL:
- Copy the suggested instructions (shown in the Studio panel) into the plugin's Instructions / skills prompt field.
- Save. Private is fine; publish to the Plugin Store later if you want public visibility.

Why hosted MCP (not stdio)
The stdio MCP server runs as a local process on your machine. ChatGPT runs in the cloud and can't launch processes on your laptop — so the plugin platform standardized on hosted MCP endpoints: a public URL the client POSTs JSON-RPC to, with bearer auth. We implement the Streamable HTTP transport on our API server at /mcp.
Every call is scoped to the creator the bearer identifies. No per-request keys to manage, no OAuth loopback — just one long-lived token per device, same shape as the npm package's 90-day session.
Security
- Token: 90-day creator JWT with a server-side session row (revocable). Rotate anytime by minting a new one and revoking the old session.
- Scope: ChatGPT stores the bearer encrypted in its plugin credentials; it never flows through chat.
- Chat scrubbing: every
kivio.reply_in_threadcall runs through our server-side contact-info scrubber. Email, phone, URLs, @handles, and messenger app names are stripped before storage — same code path the web Studio and local MCP use. - Revoke: if you lose a token, hit
POST /creator/api/sessions/:sid/revokewith the session id (list them viaGET /creator/api/sessions), or email support@kidsaivideo.com with the first 8 characters of the token.
Publishing to the Plugin Store
- In the plugin editor, click Share → Plugin Store.
- Pick a public name and tagline. Suggested: "KiVio Creator Studio — manage your AI-video creator business from ChatGPT".
- Category: Productivity or Business.
- Add a note that each end-user supplies their own KiVio creator account + their own bearer token (minted on their own Studio dashboard).
When you publish a plugin, OpenAI's platform shares the MCP URL and tool contract but NEVER your bearer token. Every end-user authenticates with their own.
